Wastewater Study Committee

CHARGE
The Southborough Wastewater Study Committee (“WSC”) is charged with developing a plan for providing wastewater treatment services—primarily to serve current and future commercial and industrial entities located along Rt 9 in Southborough. As part of this process, the WSC may additionally consider providing these services, as may be appropriate and economically feasible, for selected residential areas of Southborough and/or entities in other communities as part of a collaborative regional approach.

The WSC charge includes assessing the feasibility of such a system, and if such a system appears to be feasible, the WSC will create a high-level, comprehensive plan for the development of such a system. The WSC will make periodic progress reports, at least quarterly, to the Select Board.

Composition of Committee
The WSC will consist of seven (7) voting members who shall be appointed by the Select Board for a term ending June 30, 2026. At least one member, but no more than two members, of the WSC shall also be serving on the Select Board. The Superintendent of the Southborough Public Works Department shall be an ex-officio, non-voting member of the WSC. The preferred experience for the members of the WSC (excluding the Select Board members) includes at least one of the following areas: public finance (including wastewater project funding sources), civil engineering, wastewater treatment, construction, sanitation, or soils.

Term of Committee
The work of the WSC shall end no later than June 30, 2026, at which time the WSC shall dissolve (unless the Select Board determines otherwise).

Approved by the Select Board: February 25, 2025; Amended: March 4, 2025
