The Office of Campaign and Political Finance is an independent state agency charged with overseeing compliance with the campaign finance law.
These regulations apply to candidates for local office, funds spent on ballot questions, local town party committees, etc. More information about the OCPF and their regulations is available at https://www.ocpf.us/ or by telephone at (617-979-8300).
Candidates for local office are required to file periodic campaign finance reports with the town clerk. Each candidate for office will receive instructions on reporting campaign finance activity when they pick up their nomination papers.
Per MGL, Chapter 55 Campaign Finance Law, the Town Clerk is required to post any campaign finance report on the Town’s website if the report discloses activity (receipts, expenditures or liabilities) of $1,000 or more during a reporting period.
