Our Director, Sarah Cassell, is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with a career in human services that spans 20+ years, including her employment at Southborough Youth and Family Service since 2008. Sarah holds a bachelor's degree in Social and Rehabilitation Services from Assumption College and a master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Framingham State University. Sarah is a Certified Clinical Supervisor in the state of Massachusetts. Sarah taught as an adjunct professor for undergraduate students at Assumption College in the Social and Rehabilitation Services program and has many years of experience working with families and individuals with developmental disabilities and autism through her employment at the Center for Hope, Horace Mann Educational Associates, the Seven Hills Foundation, and the New England Center for Children. Her experience in the mental health field includes working with individuals of all ages and concerns, work with families, and parents. Sarah utilizes an eclectic approach to counseling informed by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy, and her trainings in motivational interviewing, treating individuals with suicidal ideation, self-injury, and addiction. Sarah provides supervision for staff and graduate level clinicians, and serves as the vice chair of Encompass, a regional substance use prevention coalition shared with the Town of Northborough. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, cooking, and being active.
