ABOUT

MWRA is hosting a "Reel Fun Fishing Day" event at Deer Island on Saturday, June 3rd from 10a,-2pm. A day sure to be filled with FREE fishing, fun, and fun. Read the official press release by clicking here.

  • Learn how to fish for and identify striped bass and winter flounder with the  Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries Division of Fisheries and Wildlife (MassWildlife), and the Department of Conservation and Recreation (Rods and other supplies provided)
  • Meet National Park Service Rangers and be sworn in as an *official* Boston Harbor Islands Junior Ranger
  • Play games, color, and learn “what not to flush” from the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA)
  • Learn about Boston Harbor’s biodiversity and meet *real crabs* with Save the Harbor/Save the Bay
  • Learn from a professional chef how to prepare fresh fish during a live cooking demonstration
  • Enjoy a picnic with a view, either homemade or from a food truck on site
  • Explore the trails of Deer Island on your own 
  • Discover other exciting Boston Harbor Islands Anniversary events coming this season!

DIRECTIONS & PARKING

It is highly recommended to take public transportation, carpool, or purchase a ferry ticket, as parking at Deer Island is *extremely* limited.

Ferry Service will be provided between Downtown Boston (Rowes Wharf and Deer Island on the following schedule. Please arrive to Rowes Wharf at least 20 minutes prior to departure to ensure you don't miss your boat!

10:00am - Depart Rowes Wharf --> Deer Island

12:00pm - Depart Rowes Wharf --> Deer Island

12:30pm - Depart Deer Island --> Rowes Wharf

2:00pm - Depart Deer Island --> Rowes Wharf
