QPR Suicide Prevention Training
"How to Recognize Suicidal Behaviors in Our Loved Ones" is a QPR Gatekeeper Suicide Prevention Training, and a grass-roots way for you to help keep friends, loved ones, and our community safe. QPR is an acronym for Question, Persuade, Refer. Not unlike CPR it teaches basic skills to help a person in crisis. In this 2-hour training, you are taught how to ask the suicide Question, how to Persuade a person to tell you more, and to seek help and Refer to outside help. It is offered in a small setting of no more than 12 participants to allow for time to ask lots of questions and try out newly learned skills through role-plays.

Listen With L.O.V.E.
Positive communication is a critical element in relationship success and yet, it is something that challenges all of us. How do you support your loved one who is in distress? How do you get your needs met while still preserving important relationships? How do you persevere when you're navigating challenging conversations with someone regularly? SYFS is offering the workshop, Listen With L.O.V.E: The art of communication in relationships to address some of these challenges and review critical elements of successful communication. This workshop is adapted from the Community Reinforcement and Family Training model. If you are a parent, spouse, friend, son or daughter, or simply a human in relationships with other humans, please consider joining us. This training is offered in a small, interactive setting and provides participants with opportunities to test out newly learned skills through open dialog and role-plays. Dates will be added throughout the year.
Listen with L.O.V.E. Registration is open for the upcoming training on November 8th 2023 or sign up to be notified for upcoming workshop dates.

Say It With L.O.V.E.
Say It with Love picks up where Listen with L.O.V.E. left off. In this workshop, we build on the listening skills we learned in the previous workshop and explore ways to further positive communication. Specifically, we will find out how to get our own needs met while honoring our relationships with others. We will talk about the different kinds of communication styles people use, how to frame our concerns and requests to loved ones in ways they will best respond to, and how to negotiate our needs in ways that make everyone satisfied.
While we do encourage everyone to approach this as a two-part series, participants do not need to have completed Listen with L.O.V.E. to attend this program.
Content is adapted from the Community Reinforcement And Family Training model as well as using DBT-informed skills.
