The Southborough Assessors Office along with the Board of Assessors is responsible for tax administration for the entire Town of Southborough. This includes the annual fair and equitable valuation of the Town's taxable real estate and personal property as well as motor vehicle excise tax administration. The Assessors collect, record and analyze information pertinent to valuing property according to applicable Massachusetts General Laws.
Other functions include processing abatements, exemptions and tax deferrals, maintenance of tax maps, monitoring building permit activity and calculating new growth, compiling and submitting all data required for setting the annual tax rate, generating certified abutters lists, updating property deeds and plans form the Registry of Deeds, and to prepare and deliver tax commitments to the Finance Director for collection.
